The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation is presenting a series of programs to commemorate the 160th Anniversary of the Second Battle of Winchester.
The programs are free, but pre-registration is requested. Registrants will receive additional information, including maps and driving and parking directions, prior to the event. To register, fill out the form below.

"Exciting and Terrible Days": Civil War Walking Tour of Winchester
Shenandoah Valley Civil War Museum
(20 N. Loudoun St. on the Downtown Walking Mall, Winchester)
This downtown walking tour of historic Winchester visits Civil War sites and tells the stories of soldiers and civilians who were caught up in the chaos of the constant combat, occupations, and caring for the wounded. The tour will be led by SVBF Park Ranger Wade Custer.

Living history with the Breadbasket Mess at the battlefield park, near the James R. Wilkins Winchester Battlefields Visitor Center.

"We Had to Work Our Guns on Our Knees": Star Fort and Second Winchester
Star Fort
(503 Fortress Drive, Winchester)
Program by SVBF Ranger Jack Owens. One of the network of forts that were key to the Union defensive plans, Star Fort underwent a ferocious artillery barrage - and responded in kind - after the fall of West Fort.

"A Volley of Minnie Balls for Their Breakfast" - Carter's Woods and Second Winchester
Carter's Woods Site
(McCanns Road, between US-11 and Milburn Rd, Winchester)
Program by SVBF CEO Keven Walker. Carter's Woods was the scene of the frantic Union attempts to break out on the early morning of June 15, 1863, leading to some of the most desperate fighting during the battle.

Historic walking tour of Winchester with Mike Robinson, author of Winchester Tales. Tour will meet in front of museum on the downtown walking mall.
