Guided Civil War Walking Tour: Old Town Winchester

Walk in the footsteps of History as you experience the Civil War as a civilian on this tour, part of a series of guided downtown walking tours of historic Old Town Winchester, Stephens City, and Middletown.

These tours explore the many layers of Civil War history that make up the fabric of these towns. Learn more about the citizens and events that took place here in the Shenandoah Valley during that stirring period of time.  Re-live history as you are led by qualified Guides who love the towns, their history, lore and legends, and are ready to share it with you.

Cost:  $5.00 per person (payable to the guide)
Length:  Approximately one hour
Reservations are required
Weather:  In the event of rain, tours will be cancelled or rescheduled. 

Old Town Winchester
Tours take place on First Fridays and the second Saturday of the month.  The dates of the Old Town Winchester Guided Civil War Walking Tours for this season are:

• Saturday, June 12 at 10:00 am
• Friday, July 2 at 6:00 pm
• Saturday, July 10 at 10:00 am
• Friday, August 6 at 6:00 pm
• Saturday, August 14 at 10:00 am
• Friday, Sept. 3 at 6:00 pm
• Saturday, Sept. 11 at 10:00 am
• Friday, Oct. 1 at 6:00 pm
• Saturday, Oct. 9 at 10:00 am

Meet your guide at 2 N. Cameron Street, across from City Hall.
Cost is $5.00 per person.


Stephens City
Tours take place on the 4th Saturday of the month.  The dates of the Stephens City Guided Civil War Walking Tours for this season are:

• Saturday, July 24 at 10:30 am
• Saturday, August 28 at 10:30 am
• Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 am
• Saturday, October 23 at 10:30 am

Cost is $5.00 per person.

Middletown
Tours take place on the 3rd Saturday of the month.  The dates of the Middletown Guided Civil War Walking Tours for this season are:

• Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11:00 am
• Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 am
• Saturday, October 16 at 11:00 am
